Amazing things happen when you mix artistry with consciousness. Although this song is in regular rotation on my iTunes, I hadn't watched the video until today. Loved it. Under the click is Ye's vid for Diamonds from Sierra Leone. Enjoy.
The 2010 Wedding Anthem. Currently on repeat. Check the vid after the click. Read more
It's been a whole year since his passing so of course we had to commemorate MJ with something special, afriStyle. Started looking around and found a fab vignette of the man himself on his 1992 trip to Africa. His first stop was Gabon, where he was met by 100,000 people! And while in the Ivory Coast, he was made a king. Love it..some continents give people pens for coming to visit, Africa gives you a crown. Click to check the footage: Read more
Good morning folks! First day of the month - new opportunities to do the amazing, see the amazing and be amazing. Be inspired.
Today on afiiveTV, we've got "Maga No Need Pay." Though the video came out back in Feb, I still play it on a regular. The song itself is about the rising concern about internet safety and the role Naija youth have played in the situation. Noted as the anti-cyber crime song, the whole thing has a great feel to it. The artists - Banky W, MI, Modele, Omawumi, Rooftop MCs and Wordsmith all did a fabulous job. Personally, my favorite verses start at the 3:20 mark; Love it...everything said is representative of Africa as a whole. Enjoy!

Not too long ago, a few friends of mine went to the Wale concert in DC and came back, raving about it and especially about this dude, Tabi Bonney. When I found out he was born in Lome - my third home - I had to look him up. I must say, I dig what I found: Born in Togo to a mother from DC and a father from Lome. Dad is afro-funk veteran, Itadi Bonney (Click to preview music on iTunes). Reps the District, directs videos, utilizes catchy beats, has a unique fashion sense. PLUS, the man has a masters in Biology and Secondary Education and an undergrad in Biology Pre-Med. #verynice
Jamati has a great interview with the artist from not too long ago - view that here. Below is his video for the the single 'Jet Setter' and some fly pics. He's also on twitter (@tabiBonney) Check it all out & see you in the comments section.
Love Archbishop Tutu! He has a new book out called, Made for Goodness and Time Magazine sat down with him for 10 questions. He was candid with his answers, with statements like -" I am not optimistic, no. I am quite different from that. I am hopeful." and "If not for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, South Africa would have gone up in flames." Check out the video, only 5 minutes and really informative. If not for the information, watch it to hear him laugh - it's fantastic.
Good Morning ppeeopplleee!!! We're kicking off the morning with a brand new music video from the self proclaimed ambassador of rap music, Sauce Kid, for the single "Under G." Click the link to check it out. Read more
I think I've watched this video 15 times since @DoyinakaLyrical introduced it to me. It's hilarious! Watch it - 1 minute of your life well spent. Favorite line? "My friend, don't bring me beef, you can eat beef, in ya mom's house!"
Check it out - Eddie Kadi, Donae'o and Lethal B with the POW Remix.
