February 14th is Valentine’s Day, the national day of love! To commemorate the day, Africannect is highlighting the top five celebrity couples:

1. Djimon Honsou and Kimora Lee Simmons: This ridiculously attractive couple has been together for almost two years now. Kimora Lee Simmons, the part Japanese, part African American model turned entrepreneur ended a ten year marriage with music mogul, Russell Simmons and has since found love with Benin born Hounsou. As an actor, Hounsou has received acclaim for his roles in Blood Diamond, Amistad and Gladiator. Not only are they a sexy couple, but he’s friends with her ex and her kids love him! Only thing left is for him to take her to Benin for a proper African wedding! They are featured in this months Harper’s Bazaar as Couple of the Moment.

2. Adewale Ogunleye & Sanaa Lathan: Ahh, what beautiful children these two will have. Sexy Nigerian football player (he plays American football for the Chicago Bears) Adewale Ogunleye and uber talented (and equally beautiful) actress, Sanaa Lathan are rumored to be engaged. Whatever the case is, these two are a hot item and we are glad to see them going strong.

PS. She’s six years older than him. While that type of age difference is somewhat taboo in Naija (though getting less so from what I hear) it works for them so I say Kudos to the happy couple!

3. Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker: These hardworking actors are the proud parents of two children, Sophie Tei Naaki Lee and Nicolas Neruda. (The kids are ADORABLE! Click here for a photo) Kodjoe (whose father is Ghanian; mother-German) and Ari Parker dated back in 1997 and finally got married in 2004. Since, they have become parents, acted in several shows and sitcoms, and clearly kept going to the gym because they are in some serious shape. Hollywood can turn many marriages sour so I am glad to see them going strong and looking fantastic.

4. Seal and Heidi Klum: They are known as the “Couple Who Can’t Keep Their Hands Off Each Other” and I have to admit- I can’t keep my eyes off of them! Seal (whose full name is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel) and supermodel Heidi Klum have been married for almost 3 years (began dating in 2003, had their first child in 2004, married in May 2005) and have been inseparable since

5. Iman & David Bowie: Iman, Somalian born model, at age 52 looks better than most 20something year olds. She has been killing it for over 25 years and she looks better and better with age. Her marriage to English musician and actor, David Bowie, has been going strong since 1992 (a lifetime in Hollywood terms) and everywhere we see them, they are smiling and hugging and enjoying each other. In addition to being a mother of three (two her own, the other Bowies), she is CEO of Iman Cosmetics and spokesperson for Keep A Child Alive. She has also guest-starred on several shows including Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model.
