Wyclef Jean has done a lot of work for his native Haiti, establishing the Yele Haiti Foundation in 2005, to provide scholarships for children in Port-au-Prince, Gonaïves, Les Cayes, Port-de-Paix, and Cap-Haïtien. Since the earthquake, he's urged everyone, his twitter fam, the hip hop community and the world at large to donate to Yele for relief efforts. To participate - text "Yele" to 501501 to donate $5 via your cellphone. You can also help immediately by donating to the Red Cross to assist the relief effort. Contribute online here, or donate $10 to be charged to your cell phone bill by texting "HAITI" to "90999." As other mechanisms to get involved arise, I'll keep you posted. . *Families of Americans living in Haiti are encouraged to contact the State Department at 888-407-4747.
