Celeb Award Season Round-Up

February was a busy, busy month for some of our favorite celebrities.  From the NAACP Image Awards to the Oscars, the who’s who of  sports, music, film, fashion and entertainment were out and about, looking good and reaping the benefits of their hard work. Take a look some of the standouts from the various award shows.

1. The 40th NAACP Image Awards

The event was hosted by Tyler Perry and Halle Berry. Berry wore several gowns that night…

naacp4
And Looked…

naacp5
Absolutely FLAWLESS in all of them. May we all look like this at the age of 40 and after a baby (Amen!)

Others in the building included:

naacp9
Beyoncé and Mama Tina as well as one of the hottest looking couples in the game right now, Eva Marcille and her fiancé Lance Gross. Looking Fab.

naacp12
Jennifer Hudson and Tracee Ellis Ross took home awards. *side note* Is it me or is J-Hud looking slimmer these days?? Or is the dress just REALLY flattering? Either way, keep doing what you do, J! and it looks like asymmetric styles are back in…hmmmm…

naacp13

Seal performed. WHY did he paint his nails? Heidi, control your man!

naacp14
Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha came with the smiles.

naacp15
Dr. Wangari Maathai (the first African woman to receive a Nobel Peace Prize for her contribution to “sustainable development, democracy, and peace”. African women are doing big things!!) received the Chairman’s Award with former United States VP, Al Gore.

2. The Grammies

The world’s best performers got together for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Performances ranged from the old school – Al Green’s “Let Stay Together” with Justin Timberlake and Boyz II Men – to the new school – The “Rap Pack”‘s “surprise” performance of “Swagger Like Us”. Your girl J-Hud took home “Best R&B Album of the Year” (so happy for her), while Lil’ Wayne took home “Best Rap Album of the Year” for “Tha Carter III” (which he soo deserved), among many others:

grammies1

Ashanti, whyyyyyyyyyyyy??? Homegirl looks like she is suffocating in the dress that is two sizes too small.

grammies2

The “Rap Pack” and M.I.A. Loving the men in the tuxedos. *side note* M.I.A. looked like she was about to pop!  The artist delivered a beautiful baby boy a few days later.

grammies3

More J-Hud with her fiancé David “Punk” Otunga. (his father is Kenyan…Africa, stand up!!)

Jay-Z on the red carpet (sans Mrs. Carter). Love it when a man cleans up! Sexy!!

3. The Oscars

Rounding out the awards season was the 81st annual Academy Awards.  Hugh Jackman hosted the start studded event. Definitely the most entertaining Oscar production to date and although it was noticeably melanin-deficient, still good times for all!

oscars11

Mrs. Carter rocking a House of Dereon number. Not too crazy about it, but whatevefloats your boat, Bey!

oscars4

Viola Davis and her Hubby. Viola scored a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in “Doubt.”

oscars3

Taraji Henson is absolutely gorgeous in this dress! Kudos to her; she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”  Alicia though…why?  Girl, is that a WIG? Lace front is not for everyone…and who did your make up? Love the dress though!

oscars2

Queen Latifah looking tres chic on the Red Carpet in a custom Chakra gown that was made for her in Paris. Flawless!

oscars5

Wrapping it up with some Cookies n’ Cream action for your eyeballs. Love Heidi and Seal!
