Hillary: Negative or Just Telling the Truth?

hillary.jpgOn Tuesday, US Senator Barack Obama (half Kenyan) scored his tenth straight victory against fellow Senator, Hillary Clinton. According to this article, Wisconsin’s exit polls showed that

Obama won a majority of white and working-class people while splitting women’s votes in Wisconsin‘s Democratic presidential primary. Obama split the votes of white women and lower-earning white workers with his rival, Clinton, who had relied heavily on them until now. He also tightened his grip on groups he has dominated before, winning two-thirds of men and 70 percent of voters under age 30.

Since the win (and actually for about a week now) those in Clinton’s camp have stepped up their claims that Obama’s campaign is based on style not substance. They recently put up a YouTube video showing how Obama used the words of Deval Patrick for a speech. (Both Parts 1 and 2 are available below)

In the most recent coverage of her response to the wins, she declares:

“It’s time to get real about how we actually win this election. It’s time that we move from good words to good works, from sound bites to sound solutions … This campaign goes on!” She goes on to say, “Others might be joining a movement. I’m joining you on the night shift, on the day shift!”

No doubt, what this woman is seeking to accomplish is historical. She should, by no means, be dismissed; the race for the nomination isn’t over until the Super Delegates say so. That said, I’m not sure how I feel about these attacks coming from Clinton and her people.  Her campaign is taking a negative turn and it’s not going to help her win votes at all. Yeah, perhaps there is a little bit of gender hypocrisy involved in this (usually men who sort of attack their opponents aren’t seen as negatively as women who take the same route) and that is obviously unfair, but it’s the reality. And the fact that Obama keeps dismissing her attacks as if they are frivolous does even more to make her look like shes just groping for things to say and the claims are not important.

What do you think?

I am a bit ambivalent to your position. Yes, I agree that Hillary’s “ego” is dominating her politics. She is so fixated on becoming president that her approach is causing divisions and frictions within the Democratic Party as well as citizens loyal to Democrats. Contrary to your belief, I don’t believe her gender amplifies her demeanor at all, she is what she is and I will refrain from employing a few explicit words in describing her. On the other hand, Obama is taking the “high road” to the White House and approaches most public engagements with tact and diplomacy.

To have Hillary in the White House would be a remaking of the current pompous George Bush, who is always ready to point the finger and bully others to push his agenda. Okay…maybe that was a far fetch comparison, but Hillary personality and character her in plain few for everyone to notice during her campaign. I think its rather ugly!
